After months of delays, the Atlantic red snapper season is back — and anglers along Florida’s coast are ready to make the most of it.The season was put on hold in May following an injunction filed in a U.S. District Court, leaving fishing businesses in a tough spot.“Tackle shops purchased bait; they lost a lot of money,” said David Berg, director of the Oh Snap! Red Snapper Fishing Tournament.Now, it’s game on in the Atlantic for excited anglers, but the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is urging participants to know the rules before heading out.There are two seasons currently open: a three-day federal season running Oct. 9-11, and a 14-day Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) season running Oct. 9-22. Anglers may participate in one or the other, but not both.Additional rules include one fish per person per day with no minimum size limit.
