A 66-year-old Public Works employee died after a dump truck backing up struck him Friday in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.The crash happened at 11:48 a.m. near SW Manning Place and SW Marion Manter, where crews were working along a ditch line, according to the agency’s report. The worker was in the truck’s path and died at the scene.The dump truck’s driver, a 56-year-old Lake City man, was not reported injured. FHP said the worker’s next of kin was notified.
