Judge orders JSO to release report, videos to family of Charles Faggart, whose in-custody death remains under FBI probe — Fleming Island Real Estate news

A judge decided Wednesday that the family of Charles Faggart has waited long enough for answers about his death following an incident at the Duval County jail more than 18 months ago.Judge Michael Sharrit ordered the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to turn over surveillance video and reports to Faggart’s family, who had filed a public records lawsuit against JSO and Sheriff T.K. Waters, trying to get the records released. The family initially filed a request for surveillance video, incident reports, investigative records and other evidence under Florida’s Public Records Act more than a year ago.But JSO argued that the records should stay sealed because the FBI investigation into Faggart’s death is still active. Faggart was taken from the jail to the hospital on April 7, 2025, and died three days later. Medical records obtained by News4JAX news partner The Florida Trib found that Faggart had multiple fractures on his face and ribs, bruises throughout his body, and serious damage to his kid
